A. A dock plate is for light, non-powered traffic. A dock board can be used for power traffic including forklift traffic if the board has the right capacity.

Q. What capacity dock board should I buy?
A. A good rule of thumb to calculate the capacity you will need is based on your forklift. If you have a 3 wheel forklift with a 3500 lb. capacity, you multiply 3500 x 4. If you have a 4 wheel lift, multiple the capacity by 3. This simple calculation will give you a standard needed capacity.
